Hi, I'm Rubie

I am a tech enthusiast, an active learner, and a collaborator in the business and technology community.

My background, both academically and professionally, is in the software development field.

At Sitecast, a software company I co-own with my partner, Bradley Gauthier, we built a platform to enable content creators to rapidly publish content on the web.

On a personal side, I am a mother, avid hiker, biker, world traveler, dancer, and contributing member of the Northwoods community.

Being a mom is my primary role in our society. I am deeply interested in helping to improve the major infrastructure for future generations.

Please scroll down to learn a bit more about my life journey. Also, do not hesitate to connect with me. I'd love to hear from you!

Rubie's Life Journey

From being born in the Philippines to operating a software company in the USA.

Birth Country and Migration

Born and raised in the Philippines, my native language is Tagalog. By early twenties, I became fluent in English.

At the young age of seventeen, I moved to the United States of America with my parents and elder sister. Most of my siblings and their offspring still live abroad.

Goals

With lots of perseverance and a growth mindset, I started my journey in the USA. At the time, I had a series of goals set in my mind -- to become a US citizen, finish college, get a great job, and travel the world.

Pivotal Moment

Day and night, working very long hours each shift at a restaurant, I told myself I was not maximizing my potential.

After a few months waiting tables, I decided to make a pivotal change in my life journey to develop skills and get more experiences that would help transform my life.

Customer Service

I landed a job in retail as a sales associate where I built great trust and relationship with my customers. I helped sky-rocket the credit card sales in the region that put our team on the top tier.

The manager at the optical department saw my potential and offered me a position to be an apprentice optician where I gained much more experience in customer service and health management services.

From there, I began to pursue my goal to become an engineer...

** My wonderful academic adviser who helped guide me in my journey at the university, Beth Jeffrey.

Education

Having graduated High School in the Philippines at the age of fifteen, I experienced a unique entrance into college.

There were a lot of obstacles that could have stopped me from accomplishing my goals to get a degree in the USA. With determination and grit, I faced my fear and took the placement and admission tests at Olympic College.

I was accepted and spent my freshmen and sophomore years working full time hours while attending school with full time credit.

With diligence, hard work, and perseverance, I transferred and earned a full ride at the university through BOEING scholarship and university grants -- all while working and leading various groups.

I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington (Tacoma). More doors opened up after I became a US citizen!

** My former CTO at HP and amazing mentor, Shane Wall.

Engineering

After college, I worked at HP wearing different hats -- primarily as a platform integration engineer supporting product build overseas and accelerating the engine platform and user interface development. I represented the firmware division and traveled extensively across the globe to meet with business partners.

Ambassador

A rare and incredible opportunity came up where I represented the USA in the technology sector as an ambassador for an international business forum abroad.

One of the prominent leaders of a country invited me along with fifty other young business owners and executives. I had a pleasure and great learning opportunity to attend a few leadership conferences and visited a few technology companies in the country.

World Travel

I am an avid learner and adventurer. I quit my job and traveled around the world where I met a lot of people, experienced a lot of different cultures, learned new languages, and a bunch more. Most importantly, I have improved both my technical and soft skills which could not be learned anywhere else!

It was one of the most rewarding trips as I have helped build a house for a family in Mexico. I also created a product development roadmap and a business plan to build a platform for festivals and adventure planner.

I am fortunate to have explored over thirty countries before I turned thirty!

Entrepreneurship

Coming back from my worldly adventure, I met my partner, Bradley Gauthier. I discovered we have similar vision and we complement each other not only personally but our professional experiences. It made sense for us to move forward and pursue our common goals together.

We bootstrapped and built Quantum Pipes. I took the role as the Operations Director to run Sitecast, a Quantum Pipes product.

In 2018, Bradley and I decided to set our roots in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin where he grew up. We both are actively helping the community grow both in economic and technology development.

Digital Nomad

Our love for nature and passion for automation motivated us to create a lifestyle where we can enjoy both!

We believe our time is our most valuable asset. The freedom to be able to do what we want and wherever we want is extremely important to us. So, we pursued one of our goals and invested to get an Airstream where we operate our business remotely!

Parenthood

We welcomed our amazing little girl to this wonderful world!

They say the first five years of our children's lives is the most important stage in child development. We made sure to structure our lifestyle to be able to spend time with her -- to give her the love and attention she needs.

My primary role has evolved to becoming a full-time mom. This phase of my journey has tested my time management skills. Thankfully, we spent decent amount of time to learn parenting techniques that made the transition easier.

Even though I am less involved in customer-facing duties at the companies we run, I still play a key role in operating our family business.
